Becoming a member of a project

This page is about membership in existing projects. Please see our information on applying for a new project if you do not have a project.

For access to dedicated SMHI resources such as Freja, please refer to SMHI access. The rest of this page does not apply in that situation.

Requesting membership in projects

Register in SUPR (or login if you are already registered) and use the “Requesting Membership in Projects” function under “Projects”.

When you request membership in a project, the principal investigator gets an email from SUPR. Using a link in the email, he or she can approve (or deny) the membership. You will get an email as soon as that is done.

It may take some time for an NSC staff member to link your SUPR user to an old or new user in our local NSC Express database, as there is a manual step involved. This only has to be done once, so the next time you request membership in a project, it will be quick and automatic. Anyway, you will get an email from NSC Express when your new membership has been processed at NSC.

If you do not already have a login account on the resource at NSC you want to run on, your next step is getting a login account.

Handling membership requests

If you are the principal investigator (or the designated proxy for the principal investigator) for a project you may get email about project membership requests, as described above.

Please use the link in the email to access SUPR (you are not required to login) and then use the Approve or Deny buttons as appropriate.

Adding and removing members

If you are the principal investigator (or the designated proxy for the principal investigator) for a project you can also use SUPR to manage membership in your project without waiting for membership requests.

Login to SUPR and use the “Projects” function to view and manage your projects.

You can only add persons who are registered in SUPR. If you want to add persons who are not already present, ask them to register themselves and use the membership request feature described at the top of this page.
